Churchward says that Atlantis existed between Africa and America. Although some other researchers are looking elsewhere for this sunken island, affinities between the name Atlantis and the name of the ocean where the continent sank, strengthen the arguments that Atlantis was in the Atlantic ocean.10
In 1898, when the technicians were laying telegram lines underwater, just off-shore from the Azores, they came across some glass-like remainders of lava. Only the contact of lava with air could have caused such a glass-like structure. The fact that the seawater could decompose lava layers in 15 thousand years, brought out the reality that the area was on the surface before 15 thousand years.11
During an ocean bed study by the USA in 1949, occasional shore sand was detected 600 kilometers off-shore. These types of sand, which is said to be formed only along shallow shores indicated that they had remained there since 20 to 10 thousand years ago. Similarly, several types of corals were found in deep areas, which were impossible to develop in regions deeper than 15 meters.12
The bottom of the Atlantic Ocean has been swept by numerous ships so far. An elevated mass extending from the South of England to Cape Orange in South America, and stretching towards the southeast to East Africa was identified. This mass is 2 thousand 500 meters higher compared to the ocean base around it. This mass, called the Dolphin Ridge, is one thousand 600 kilometers in width, and its highest point goes above the ocean level at the Azores. On the surface of the mass, there are mountains and valleys, impossible to rise above the ocean level. This uneven surface is also a proof that the mass at one stage in history, was above the sea level.13
200 million years ago, all continents on Earth composed of a single landmass, known as the Pangaea. With the movements of the Earth’s crust, the continents separated and parted from each other. When the drawings of the lands on either side of the Atlantic overlap, it can be observed that South America matches perfectly with Africa, whereas North America and Europe do not match at all.
Dolphin Ridge
There is a hole between North-West Africa, Europe, and North America. This hole shows that, some time ago, there was a piece of land there, which probably had sunk. By replacing Dolphin Ridge into this hole, the continents match perfectly well.14
The map drawn by Piri Reis in 1513, matches perfectly well to the trigonometric principles used in map-drawing today. In this map, the shores of America are precisely drawn. When viewed on a flat surface, it is thought that the coasts are not shown properly; however, when the map is posted on a sphere, the match is perfect. It is obvious that, whoever drew this map, knew that the Earth had a spherical shape. Both on this map, and on the Oronteus Fienus map, drawn in 1531, the shores of the Antarctic, currently covered in glaciers, are depicted in detail.15
Unification of Continents
Scientists today have confirmed, using present-day technology, that these old drawings were very accurate, the bays and estuaries under the glaciers were located correctly. In the Ibni Ben Zara map published in 1487, it can be seen that Northern Europe was covered in glaciers. It is believed that these maps are copies of a map that was in the Alexandria Library, 2 thousand years ago, and that they were drawn when Europe was covered in glaciers and the Antarctic was totally free of glaciers, by a civilization that could view the world from above and knew how to apply global map drawing technique.
During excavations at the Maya Ruins by an American team, in 1927, a skull was found, carved out of all in one piece quartz crystal. As carbon aging techniques cannot be applied to quartz material, the age of this carving could not be determined. However, the experts stated that the carving of that crystal was not possible even with present-day technology, to such perfection, and that it was possible that the carving had been made by civilization, far more developed than ours. When the skull, which is currently at display at the British Museum, was microscopically examined, as a result of which it was stated that no metal tool was used in carving the quartz crystal.16
In 1882, a British commercial vessel found an island 200 miles south of the Azores, which had recently arisen above the water level. On this island, covered in volcanic ashes, without any vegetation, some remains of walls were observed. Near the walls, inside a stone sarcophagus, a mummified human body, bronze swords, animal figures, human head reliefs, rings, and hammers were found. No sooner had the island risen above water than it re-submerged, never to be seen again. On the other hand, what happened to the findings taken to Britain, is not known.17 Since then, numerous reports from different regions of the Atlantic on findings of buildings, walls, and roads have been received. Pilots flying over the Atlantic claimed to have seen ruins of cities, roads, even a pyramid under the water.18 An underwater exploration executed by the Soviets in 1947, confirmed these findings. Exploring the region where the island was reported to have emerged and then disappeared, traces were observed, reminiscent of human life and activities 3,000 meters below sea level. A mark of five ladder steps was found on a wall 75 cm wide and 1,5 meters long, showing clearly that the wall was built by human beings and was photographed. In the region, the mountains occasionally peaked at 400 meters.19
American paleontologist and geologist Manson Valentine, during his explorations in 1968, on the Bahama Shelf, observed huge man-made stones. Remnants of various structures and stone roads, these stones were either put on top parallel with each other or intercepted at right angles and laid straight as a line. Continuing his explorations, Valentine found precision cut building blocks and a statue of a cat’s head weighing around 100 kilos.20 It was also noted that each of the building blocks weighed around 25 tons. Again, in Mexico, Cuba, Florida, and Venezuela, walls were found underwater, some of which extended for hundreds of kilometers.21
American writer Charles Berlitz said that, on the Bahama shores, the fishermen and pilots had seen underwater pyramids on the ocean base. In an investigation executed in the region in 1978, a pyramid was found, based 200 meters below sea level, with its tip reaching 50 meters. Ari Marshall, organizer of the exploration said that a green light radiated from the bottom of the pyramid, possibly due to gas or energy crystals.22
